    According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, at 8:30 a.m. on May 13, deputies were called to the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive and 96th Avenue in Allendale Township for a two-vehicle crash. Police said Marne resident Timothy Keurh, 34, was stopped in the westbound lane of Lake Michigan Drive while waiting to make a left turn onto 96th Avenue when he was rear-ended by Griffin Dwyer, a 21-year-old Allendale man.

    Finally, Eric Peiffer could relax next to his "Pictured Rocks" waterfall as the 2016 West Michigan Home and Garden Show prepared to open its doors at the DeVos Place convention center on Thursday, March 2. Peiffer, a landscaper with Outside Inc. of Marne, is one of 13 landscapers who are competing for top honors at the show, which runs through Sunday at 6 p.m. Each landscaper was asked to create a Michigan-themed garden that will be judged by professionals, their peers and the public. Peiffer said he started building the water feature center with a co-worker early Monday morning.

    Justin Allen Beckman, 20, of Coopersville; Tyler John Meerman, 24, of Conklin; Colson Thomas Modderman, 22, of Wyoming; and Michael Duane Sorenson III, 20, of Marne have relinquished their hunting rights for the next three years as well as the firearms used in the incident. They were also fined $500 for each of the 58 ducks they poached for a total of $29,000, but that fine was reduced to $5,000 each by the court for a total of $20,000.

    Four men accused of what conservation officers have called one of the area's worst cases of waterfowl poaching have been charged in Hudsonville District Court with taking more than 55 ducks. Justin Allen Beckman, 20, of Coopersville, Michael Duane Sorenson III, 20, of Marne, Colson Thomas Modderman, 22, of Wyoming and Tyler John Meerman, 24, of Conklin were all charged with hunting/taking over the legal limit of duck and hunting/taking duck over bait.

    The most recent in the string of crimes is the arson of a vehicle that occurred on Aug. 14, 2016 at 6:26 a.m. Sheriff's deputies, along with the Allendale Fire Department, responded to a reported vehicle fire at 10760 68th Ave., just south of Allendale High School. The 2004 Ford Expedition was found to be engulfed in flames and was a total loss.

    A 25-year-old Marne man is in critical condition after he ran off the road and hit a tree early on Thursday, Aug. 11, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. Rylee Kloostra was northbound on Linden Drive near River Hill Drive when he ran off the road to the west and hit a tree just after midnight.

    A 20-year-old Marne man is in stable condition at Spectrum Health Butterworth hospital after he was thrown into Lake Michigan Drive in a collision with an SUV. Christopher Medendorp was riding a bike along the north edge of Lake Michigan Drive, headed eastbound against traffic, when the bike was struck by a GMC Terrain turning off Eighth Avenue.
