    Two years and more than 3,300 miles later, a message sent by two Ocean County residents has been received. A one-line note scribbled with on a piece of paper, stuffed in a glass bottle and dropped in the ocean off Island Beach State Park in January 2014 has somehow reached northwestern France, according to repots.

    BAY HEAD - Two Shore towns have an off-season visitor that is stirring up a bit of uneasiness for residents. A mangy fox has been wandering the streets of Bay Head and Mantoloking for at least the past month and the cagey animal has managed to elude capture.

Manasquan Inlet was nasty when Joe Zona ran his Lil' Brother from Brielle Yacht Club out and headed south after getting a report that there had been big stripers caught in bunker schools on Thanksgiving Day.

    Striped bass reports were very good today both in the ocean south of Point Pleasant and in the back of Raritan Bay, but there were few actual reports -- and my computer hasn't been downloading very well. The Cock Robin from Point Pleasant reported a boat limit of stripers to the south on live bunkers and jigs.

    After Hurricane Sandy left many of New Jersey's beach communities in ruins, Gov. Chris Christie declared the need for engineered beaches for the entire Shore coastline. Building those beaches hasn't gone smoothly, though, as several Shore towns have resisted efforts to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build wide beaches with tall, fat dunes.
