The event will take place on a secluded meadow with island views and features a paniolo barbecue dinner catered by Three's Bar & Grill, dancing to the music of Country Knights, and live and silent auctions.

    The race for the West Maui County Council residency seat remains tight as incumbent Elle Cochran narrowly leads political newcomer Ka'ala Buenconsejo following the release of the second printout at about 8:30 p.m. Cochran secured 45 percent of the vote, with Buenconsejo following less than a percentage point behind with 44.5 percent . The "no" votes on the ballot initiative calling for a moratorium on genetically engineered crops on Maui maintains its lead with 54.4 percent though the gap has narrowed since the first printout.

    A man and woman were arrested for allegedly burglarizing a Pukalani residence Monday and stealing more than $2,700 in valuables, police said. Troy Fernandez, 21, of Makawao and Courtney Vierra, 19, of Wailuku were each charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree theft, first-degree terroristic threatening and fourth-degree criminal property damage.
