    A witness saw a dog hit by a car in Madera County, California , just East of the Ranchos Market on Ave 12. There were two dogs together, both looked like German Shepherds or German Shepherd mixes. The dog who was hit crawled under the car of the witness and the other dog circled the car as if trying to make sure his friend was safe.

    Fresno police are investigating a shooting Thursday in which gang officers shot at but missed a man they had stopped - and apparently missed drivers passing by on a busy central Fresno street. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said just before 3 p.m. officers stopped an African American man in his 20s on Olive Avenue just east of Highway 99. According to Dyer, the man - who was not immediately identified - was on probation and had a criminal record in Madera, and officers suspected him of being a gang member.
