    Insults about pickup trucks played a role in a man's arrest on an aggravated assault charge after a weekend street race in West Lubbock, Lubbock police said Monday. Alejandro DeLeon, 23 of Lubbock, was arrested on the aggravated assault charge after police say he pulled out a gun during a street race with another vehicle in the 5600 block of 19th Street.

    More information was released on the armed robbery at Flying J Travel Plaza that occurred early Sunday morning, as three suspects remain at large Monday afternoon. On Sunday, a news release from the Lubbock Police Department stated three suspects were on the loose after robbing the store near Marsha Sharp Freeway and Interstate 27 in the early morning hours.

    The City of Lubbock and Utility Contractors of America will continue construction of a sanitary sewer main extension across University Avenue between 109th Street and 114th Street on Wednesday, July 13. University Avenue from 109th Street to 114th Street will be closed as crews work on the sewer main until Monday, August 8. University Avenue will be open from 114th Street to 130th Street. This phase of the project will restrict access for traffic on 109th Street to 114th Street across University Avenue.

Kim Davenport Peterson, 44, was arrested on an aggravated assault charge after police found a blood trail at the scene, which led them to her in the victim's room, according to a Lubbock Police Department news release.

One quickly developing storm prompted the National Weather Service in Lubbock issued a significant weather advisory for southwestern Lubbock and northwestern Lynn Counties through 5:15 p.m. At 4:47 p.m., doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Slide - about 13 miles south of Lubbock - that was nearly stationary and capable of producing half-inch-diamter hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph.
