    LOVING, N.M. A DWI checkpoint being administered by New Mexico State Police resulted in the arrest of at least one drunk driver in southeast New Mexico sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning, but it wasn't your typical DWI checkpoint arrest. NMSP officials say no one was injured after the driver of a semi drunkenly drove into the checkpoint, hitting two State Police patrols cars in the process.

    It happened about 11 a.m. on Friday on U.S. 82 near Mayhill. Police say a 2006 Chevy Impala was traveling east on U.S. 82 at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to make a sharp curve in the road.

    Authorities say two Lovington men who were father and son were killed when a pickup veered onto a highway's shoulder and sideswiped a car and truck being set up for towing in southeastern New Mexico. The New Mexico State Police identified the men killed Thursday as 79-year-old Leopoldo Solorzano and 40-year-old Efrain Parra Solorzano.

    LOVING, N.M. A gas pipeline explosion in southeast New Mexico early Wednesday morning led to the evacuation of a well site early, according to Eddy County Emergency Management officials.There are currently no reported injuries. Emergency crews are currently working to put out the blaze, which has closed U.S. 285 from Grandi to London, as well as New Mexico 31 to Carter.
