The state Division of Public and Behavioral Health has been made aware of the cases at the facility in Lovelock, 90 miles east of Reno, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will test lab samples connected to the matter, according to a news release from the corrections department.

    The Nevada Department of Corrections said in a statement that two prisoners started fighting at about 8 a.m. in the yard where the prison's general population gathers and wouldn't stop when guards ordered them to. The agency's statement says guards fired blanks and eventually shot live rounds by skipping the pellets on the ground toward the inmates before the fight was stopped.
