Marathon officials have taken the rare step of advancing the full-field start time by half an hour to 6:55 a.m. Sunday and are urging runners to consider a slower pace for their safety. More than 26,000 runners are expected to participate in this year's sold-out 30th annual L.A. Marathon from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica on Sunday, in which temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s downtown and in some other areas of the region.
