After a terminated pursuit and Lafayette police's assistance in throwing "stop sticks" in front of the stolen truck, the driver, Omari Lyle, was arrested at 1:44 a.m. Monday on suspicion of stealing several keys and the truck from R&D Motors, 128 Third Ave. According to police reports, an officer responded at 12:01 a.m. Monday after an employee who lives just north of the business witnessed somebody driving away from the dealership lot in a 2002 red Dodge Ram 1500.

    Longmont's city staff has recommended the City Council support two bills pending in the Legislature that could affect Longmont but that the council oppose a proposed law that would end municipal judges' ability to cancel driver's licenses. Support Senate Bill 17-034, a measure that would give counties four more years in which they could transfer money out of their budgets' general funds and into road and bridge funds to help cover the local expenses of disaster-recovery work - such as projects still to be completed after the September 2013 floods.
