Raul Shockley, commander of the Longmont Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2601, led the proceedings, introducing the presence of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of the American Legion, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Longmont Elks, among others, members of all of which placed wreaths at the feet of the Civil War statue before saying a few words in remembrance.

According to Blue Sky Velo spokeswoman Sue Linroth in an email, the permanent bike aid station is a couple of feet tall and hosts a variety of basic bike tools that cyclists need for general maintenance and repair, including Allen keys and wrenches attached to the station by cables.
