    LONG BRANCH -- The New Jersey Marathon drew thousands of spectators and participants to the Jersey Shore on Sunday to test the runners' mettle over 26.2 miles. In a morning that started off relatively pleasant but grew chillier and windy, the 9,000 participants took off in waves from Monmouth Park in Oceanport for the full and half marathons, running through eight Shore towns before finishing in Long Branch.

The sentence imposed Thursday follows a month-long trial last year when Edgar Mejia, 55, was convicted of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, said Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

There are 136 registered voters in Loch Arbour, which means more than 71 percent of the village's voters took part in Tuesday's special election.

The five-month undercover investigation, dubbed "Operation Justice Served," resulted in the arrests between September and November of a dozen people on drug distribution charges and another 33 people on drug possession and conspiracy allegations, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said.
