    A 32-year-old Pelham man suffered serious injuries and a 42-year-old Londonderry woman was also injured in a head-on crash involving a possible sleeping driver on Mammoth Road in Pelham on Tuesday afternoon. The two-vehicle crash that left Francis Ferreira, of Pelham, hospitalized, took place shortly after 4 p.m. in front of Muldoon Park, according to a release from the Pelham Police Department.

    Firefighters needed about an hour to control a 2-alarm fire in the roof of an unusually tall barn-style garage Monday afternoon. Crews were called to 339 Mammoth Road at 4:39 p.m., for what was initially reported as a chimney fire, but which ended up being a fire in the roof of a 30-foot by 50-foot garage with unusually high ceilings, according to a press release.

    The attorney for a Tewksbury man convicted of murder in the 1969 "cold case'' slaying of 15-year-old John McCabe will ask the state's highest court next month to overturn Walter Shelley's conviction, arguing he was forced to decide between manslaughter or an "all-or-nothing'' verdict of murder. Before the start of his 2014 trial, Shelley, then 62, of Tewksbury, was given two trial options by Lowell Superior Court Judge Janet Kenton-Walker: * Waive the six-year statute of limitations for manslaughter and have the jury consider it as a lesser offense to murder.

    A former accounting manager at a Chelmsford company will spend 60 days in jail and must pay more than $61,000 in restitution after admitting she embezzled from the company, in some cases short-changing bonuses for other employees to give herself raises and vacation pay. In Middlesex Superior Court on Wednesday, Kelly Redman, 50, of 96 Oakridge Drive, Londonderry, N.H., pleaded guilty to charges of larceny over $250 and falsify/omit entry into corporate books.

    Firefighters say residents in the area of 36 May Lane in Pelham were evacuated from their homes Saturday morning after a resident struck a large, underground propane tank while using heavy equipment and caused a high-pressure gas leak. Firefighters were called to the area at 9:58 a.m., and arrived two minutes later to discover that homeowner Tom Maciejczyk sheared off a relief valve on a 1,000-gallon underground propane tank under his property while using heavy equipment, according to a press release.
