    A former Ford County correctional officer avoided jail time Wednesday when he was sentenced for taking sexually explicit photos of a female inmate. Judge Mark Fellheimer sentenced Derek A. Whitaker, 37, of Loda, to one year of conditional discharge and ordered him to write a letter of apology to the victim, perform 100 hours of community service and pay a $500 fine within 10 months.
