Russell L. Mitchell Jr., 22, was standing outside with another man in the 100 block of Fairmont Avenue at 7:23 p.m. when several shots were heard in the area, authorities said. Mitchell, of Joliet, was shot in the head and taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he was pronounced dead at 7:56 p.m., according to the Will County coroner's office. Comment?
