Thursday, January 29, 2015 Elsie Reed, age 85, of Center City, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Ecumen Parmly LifePointes in Chisago City. Elsie was born in Osceola, Wisconsin on September 12, 1929 to parents John and Alma Will.

    Monday, February 2, is the Lake Improvement District annual meeting; where attendees who reside within the special taxation district will elect two LID Board members and hear of 2014 accomplishments and learn about upcoming goals. The Lake Improvement District boundaries encompass the huge watershed area that surrounds the Chisago Lakes Chain of Lakes-- from Little Lake located northeast of Center City, to Big Green Lake and the small outlet Lake on the other side of Highway 8, used to relieve pressure from flooding in times of high water levels on the chain.

Richard was born February 24, 1935 in Franconia Township and moved to Mahtomedi and married the woman of his dreams, Sherrill Frisk. Richard was the best husband, father, grandpa, friend and mentor to all.

    One hundred years ago, in the little village of Lindstrom, Minn., Charles A. Victor printed his first newspaper in the local blacksmith shop, according to "Lindstrom on the Lake," compiled by the Lindstrom Centennial Committee in 1994. Since most of the village residents were of Swedish ancestry, the newspaper was in the Swedish language.

    In discussing the financing for the truck, Ehlers' financial advisor Shelly Eldridge introduced Rebecca Kurtz, who will also advise on Lindstrom City borrowing needs, succeeding longtime Ehlers advisor Carolyn Drude, who has retired. The council was in agreement to not structure the sale of the equipment certificates so interest rates are tied-down-- but rather leave opportunity to refinance should rates improve.

    The four member Lakes Area Police Commission is re-igniting public discussion of possibly constructing new police headquarters, as part of the proposed new fire hall/public safety building that Chisago City is considering. Commission members voted unanimously last week for a "presentation" of project details and options to be given to each city council as soon as possible.
