    According to the Department of Public Safety, Derrick Markeith Francis, 27 of Lindale has been arrested after he attempting to evade troopers, Friday. At about 12:15 p.m. Friday, deputies with the Smith County Sheriff's Office assisted another agency with a high-speed chase, according to Sergeant Darrell Coslin.

    At approximately 8:40 AM, Troopers responded to a two vehicle fatal crash on FM-317, 5 miles northeast of the city of Chandler in Henderson County. Preliminary crash investigators indicate that a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King, ridden by Kerry Wayland Hicks, 51, of Lindale, was traveling westbound on FM-317 approaching a sweeping curve to the right.

    A Texas man accused of causing a fiery wreck which killed three people, including a pregnant woman, admitted at the scene of the wreck to drinking and driving, according to an arrest affidavit. Gilberto Gomez, 26, of Saginaw, has been in the Smith County Jail since Feb. 17 and charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter.

A 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Gilberto Gomez, 26, of Saginaw was traveling south on SH-110, crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane where it struck a 2005 Toyota Camry driven by Jaewoong Jang, 34, of Lindale.
