    Mayor Chris Beutler today announced that Randy Hawthorne, Executive Director of the Nonprofit Hub and Volunteer Partners, will receive the first Lincoln Luminary Award at the Winter Lights event Sunday, December 18. The event from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. had been scheduled for Tower Square at 13th and "P" streets, but due to projected cold weather, it has been moved to the vacant retail space at 263 N. 13th Street, just north of Tower Square. The Mayor will present Hawthorne with the award in a brief ceremony at 4:55 p.m. He has been involved with the Lincoln Community Playhouse, Rotary Club #14, Leadership Lincoln, TEDx Lincoln, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Gathering Place, the American Marketing Association and other local nonprofits.

"Money affects all of us, but many of us lack the information we need to make smart decisions about our financial futures," said Library Director Pat Leach. "'Thinking Money' is designed to teach us about financial literacy in a way that is not only understandable, but fun.
