    The performances will be held at the Ansonia Theatre in uptown Wadesboro on Saturday and Sunday. To kick off the holiday season, three shows will be presented: a matinee at 2 p.m. and an evening performance at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and an afternoon performance on Sunday at 3 p.m. "This play is extremely relevant today because it depicts the uncertainties of our economy while offering an intimate, yet comical, bird's-eye-view on how this fluctuating economy affects everyone," Bennett said via email.

    A traffic stop turned into a chase ending in an arrest for drug charges going back three months for one Lilesville man. Michael Antonio Pickett was arrested Oct. 1 after fleeing an officer conducting a traffic stop, but more charges were added later when he allegedly tried to sell marijuana on Oct. 18. Pickett, 34, was driving on West Wall Street when Lilesville Police Chief Bobby Gallimore tried to pull him over.

    In order to facilitate work for site recreation enhancements, Duke Energy will temporarily close the Grassy Island Access Area on Blewett Falls Lake beginning the week of Oct. 24. Improvements include adding an accessible restroom, upgrades to the accessible parking and updated public information signage, including a new kiosk. During this closure, visitors may launch boats at the Pee Dee Access Area located approximately 17 miles away at 579 Boat Landing Road in Lilesville.
