    Officials say several jail inmates have been diagnosed with hepatitis A in a Kentucky county where cases of the contagious liver disease have increased in recent months. The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Tuesday that Lexington-Fayette County Health Department officials had warned the jail's staff last year about the outbreak that has occurred throughout parts of the state.

    Lexington-Fayette County Health Department tells LEX 18 that it has confirmed additional cases of hepatitis A at three area restaurants. The restaurants are: Hardee's at 2990 Richmond Road in Lexington, Nov. 23,-26; Waffle House at 2347 Buena Vista Road in Lexington, Nov. 11-19; and Waffle House at 4 Carol Road in Winchester, Nov. 20. It is relatively uncommon for restaurant customers to become infected with the virus because of an infected food handler, but anyone who consumed food or drink at the locations during the times stated should get the vaccine, according to the Health Department.
