Republican Marino, who represents the 10th congressional district, presented William Farley with a the most prestigious medal congress has to offer - a replica of a Congressional Gold Medal - and a Farley was a B-25 pilot during World War II as part of the Tuskegee airmen, the first African-American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces.

    What started as a poor decision, and led to a high-speed police chase, has ended with a 35-year-old man who is now facing a minimum of 12 and a half years in prison. Stephen P. Rivest, of Lewistown, was sentenced Tuesday after he allegedly led police from Lewistown Borough down the wrong lane on Route 322 and to Mount Union Borough at speeds as high as 95 miles per hour while under the influence of alcohol on June 7, 2016.

    After a 12-hour search between Aug. 10 and 11, a State College man was found along the Juniata River in Kistler Borough, Wayne Township, according to a press release from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown. On Aug. 10 at 7:38 p.m., troopers from the PSP Lewistown began attempting to locate Ronald McGraw, 77, of State College, according to the news release.

    Lucas A. Lopez, 22, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Barbara Lyter on July 13 and he is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 24. According to court documents, on April 13, a controlled buy was set up at Lopez' 26 Main St., Mifflin home where Lopez gave the confidential informant marijuana in exchange for $120. On April 24, court documents indicate that a second controlled buy was arranged where the confidential informant gave Lopez $40 for marijuana.

    Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera announced Monday a significant reduction in state-mandated assessments due to the elimination of two test sections - one in math, one in English - and additional questions from the science section. Wolf said in a press release the change to the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment will reduce the length of tests by 20 percent for grades three through eight.
