Born in Waterville Jan. 23, 1939, he was the son of Frederick J. and Leone Washburn Gaunce.

At the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, the answers varied from traveling abroad to remaining on campus as an MSSM summer counselor and everything in between.

    A 90-year-old Warren woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash that took place on Route 196 in Topsham Aug. 31. According to a press release from the Topsham Police Department, Justin Cyr, 32, of Lewiston, was driving west in a 2002 GMC Envoy when he crossed the center line and sideswiped an eastbound flatbed tractor-trailer owned by Ray Labbe and Sons of Brunswick, operated by Dana Moore, 55, of Freeport. Cyr's vehicle continued into the eastbound lane and struck a 2007 Honda Civic head-on driven by Barbara Brusila, 61, of Warren.

    The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said it has determined a Tennessee-licensed truck driver involved in a fatal crash in Maine to be an imminent hazard to public safety. Randall J. Weddle of Greeneville, Tenn., has been indicted by a Knox County Grand Jury on 15 counts, including two charges of manslaughter for the deaths of two people killed when Weddle's tractor trailer truck crossed the center line and collided with oncoming traffic in Washington in March.
