In the wake of a New Year's Day shootout that injured two police officers in southern West Virginia, area sheriffs say officers rely on their training during traffic stops, but they are inherently unpredictable. The Associated Press reported Friday the father and son involved in the shootout allegedly killed a North Carolina couple and set their home on fire before driving to West Virginia, where they wounded the two police officers in Lewisburg during a traffic stop. Two West Virginia police officers were injured in a New Year's Day shootout when they stopped a suspected stolen vehicle and the driver opened fire, an emergency dispatch official said. The two Lewisburg officers, and the driver, were being treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, said Donna Hinkle, administrator of the Greenbrier County 911 center. Comment?
