The housing authority is funded with federal grants to assist with the housing needs of low-income families in Levelland and oversees both public housing and voucher programs.

    Two people were arrested and more than 100 birds were seized as as state and local law enforcement officers executed a search warrant in an alleged cockfigthing operation Friday near Levelland. Officials with the Hockley County Sheriff's Office and other state and local law enforcement agencies searched the property in the 100 block of America Road following what they say were credible reports of possible cockfighting and gambling activities at a location north of Levelland, according to a Hockley County news release.

    More details and photos have been released following a multi-agency investigation into an alleged cockfighting operation out of Hockley County that yielded two arrests and the seizure of more than 100 birds. Levelland resident 53-year-old Eulogio Guerrero Jr. and 47-year-old Kenny Grubbs of Portales, New Mexico, were arrested on felony charges related to cockfighting offenses, said Hockley County Sheriff Ray Scifres.
