    The Kentucky State Police responded to a fatal vehicle collision on December 30, 2014 at approximately 06:25 A.M. The two vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of KY 307 and KY 80. Preliminary investigation shows Henry D. Blanks, 85 of Wickliffe, KY, operating a 1997 GMC 1 ton dually traveling south on KY 307. Blanks failed to stop at the intersection of KY 80. Blanks was struck, on the driver's side, by a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Joshua D. Letcher, 21 of Fancy Farm, who was traveling west on KY 80. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

    Officials in southeastern Kentucky say vandals broke into a closed school and painted marijuana leaves, references to smoking pot and obscene words on the walls. Letcher County Schools Superintendent Tony Sergent says that someone painted the graffiti at the old Whitesburg High School in the last three weeks by breaking a window to get inside.
