    Two students have been chosen to address their fellow seniors Friday, when a total of 67 graduate from Wahama High School at 7 p.m. Christopher Bell, of Leon, son of Mark and Kelley Bell, and Tyler Putney, of Letart, son of James M. "Matt" Putney and Renee L. Putney, have been chosen as the student speakers. Bell has been involved in many organizations during his years at Wahama, including band, track, choir, academic team, and has served as president of the National Honor Society.

    A day of fundraising for an 11-year-old Leon boy who underwent surgery on a brain tumor, has been set for Saturday, June 13. Chayston Handley, son of Kendra Handley and Richard Joslin, had surgery on Monday at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, where the tumor was removed. He will soon be transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus for intensive rehabilitation, before returning to Huntington for radiation treatments.

Frankie R. Chapman II, 30, of Huntington, and Emily Hope Adkins, 31, of East Lynn, both appeared before Magistrate Cheryl Ross on Friday for their preliminary hearings with Chad Beckett, 23, of Barboursville, appearing for his preliminary hearing before Magistrate Gail Roush on Monday.
