    Local school officials announced Tuesday night that closing two of the city's schools and reorganizing grades at other schools might be one possible solution to narrowing the district's projected $5 million deficit. During Tuesday's public hearing on the school budget, Superintendent Jim Jolicouer and Early Education Principal James Reilly said that closing the Bennett School and Priest Street School, which currently cater to preschool and kindergarten students, could alleviate some of Leominster's projected deficit.

The festival has drawn support from those planning to attend. But a "super majority" of Holman Street residents want nothing to do with it, said Steven Whitman, of 473 Holman St. "We're looking for the Board of Selectmen to rescind the license," said Whitman, formerly the director of the Department of Public Works in Leominster and founder of the civil engineering firm Whitman & Bingham Associates.
