Since former Chief Kevin Henderson was appointed Grayson County Judge/Executive, the position of Leitchfield Police Chief has been filled by Interim Chief Bryan Langdon; however, the city has been taking applications for a permanent chief during that period.

    The City of Leitchfield, on Monday, Aug. 21, adopted ordinances prohibiting bars from opening and limiting the use of fireworks within the city. The Leitchfield City Council held the second and final readings of ordinances addressing changes in the state's Alcohol Beverage Control laws, as well as the ignition of fireworks in the city limits.

    A Clarkson man was arrested for allegedly stealing a truck and crashing it in Leitchfield on Monday afternoon, Aug. 14. At approximately 3:03 p.m. on Monday, the Leitchfield Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from Dollar General on Elizabethtown Road. Police were advised that the subject who stole the vehicle, a Ford F150, had also wrecked it near the entrance to Oak Wood Lane and fled the scene, according to LPD Detective Kevin Smith.

Officers found a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine, glass smoking pipes with residue and other drug paraphernalia throughout the home.
