The church will be setting up a red and white striped circus tent this weekend to give out free hot dogs and bottled water from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to those enjoying the festival.

    The City of Leitchfield this week honored the Grayson County Humane Society volunteers whom officially announced their intention to vacate the Leitchfield Animal Shelter effective Friday, July 15. During the Leitchfield City Council's Tuesday, July 5 meeting, Grayson County Humane Society President Lindsey Shaffar read the volunteers' letter of intent to vacate the shelter. The Grayson County Humane Society has operated the Leitchfield Animal Shelter for the past 13 years, having taken it over on June 3, 2003.

    The Grayson County Alliance is now accepting applications for the Grayson County Repair Affair, which will start at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. Anyone interested in applying for the event can pick up applications at the food pantry at its new location on Brandenburg Road in Leitchfield. The food pantry will be accepting applications until Aug. 31. The Repair Affair is a one-day event where teams of volunteers go to local residences to make basic home repairs to make a home safer, accessible, more sanitary or better weatherized.

GC News-Gazette Leitchfield firefighters work to extinguish a blaze that had engulfed the cab of a semi tractor-trailer on Thursday morning. Shortly after 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, the Leitchfield Fire Department and Leitchfield Police Department responded to South Main Street in front of Dairy Queen and discovered the tractor portion of a tractor-trailer engulfed in flames.
