Opelousas man dies in 18-wheeler crash

LEESVILLE, La. (AP) -- An Opelousas man died in a two-vehicle crash on La. Highway 10 in Vernon Parish south of Leesville. The accident happened Tuesday morning. State police say the crash involved two 18-wheelers, a 2000 International driven by 43-year-old Carl W. Rollins Jr., of Leesville, and a 2007 Freightliner driven by 56-year-old Charles L. Theriot, of Carencro. Troopers say the Freightliner was westbound on La. 10, cresting a hilltop, when the International entered the road from a private drive. The two 18-wheelers collided. Investigators say a passenger in Theriot's truck, 50-year-old Earl P. Prudhomme Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation. Comment?
