    The Lebanon City Council approved its 2016-2017 fiscal year budget on first reading Tuesday and Lebanon residents should expect an increase in property tax payments in the future. The council voted to leave the city's tax rate at 60 cents, which would cause an increase in residential and commercial property tax payments, according to Lebanon Finance Commissioner Robert Springer.

    Animal Rescue Corps assisted the Gibson County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday in the rescue of about 48 dogs, mostly small breeds, found living in poor conditions at a breeding facility in Gibson County. ARC volunteers documented all of the animals and the conditions on the property and took the dogs to an emergency shelter set up at Novamet Specialty Products in Lebanon for the rescue, dubbed Operation Summer Saves.

    Cumberland senior Ryan Botts was voted to the second team on the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division Men's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and announced Monday by the national office. Botts was voted a third team NAIA All-America last week, ending his senior season with a team-leading 71.85 scoring average, winning three tournaments and finishing in the top six in seven of the club's 10 events.

Main St. and needed help.
