    The BV Strong Community Dinner maintained the same size as last year - 460 tables and over 3,600 guests - in spite of temperamental weather Monday evening. Several times Monday, wild winds kicked up, the sky grew dark a few drops of rain fell and the clouds moved on as quickly as they came, including once during the dinner itself, with tables lining Main Street for the fifth year.

    The grave photo in the paper last week is located on the 4-wheel-drive road about half a mile above the Mary Murphy mine site in Pomeroy Gulch in Chalk Creek. The grave with the wrought iron fence around it was recognized by Robb and Shelby Marion, who emailed me.

    This weekend, the town of Fairplay will welcome the World Championship Pack Burro Race for the 70th year, the first race in the "Triple Crown" of Colorado's official heritage sport which finishestwo weeks later in Buena Vista. The first two legs of the Triple Crown in Fairplay and Leadville each send racers up to the 13,185 foot summit of Mosquito Pass, 29 miles out and back to the finish line on Fairplay's Front Street, 21 miles to Harrison Avenue in Leadville - two halves of the original pack burro race.
