The council directed city staff to draft a 5 year lease agreement with the new Willits Center for the Arts, Inc. to be finalized at its next city council meeting on Feb. 10. Only three council members were present for the discussion as Mayor Bruce Burton was absent and Councilwoman Holly Madrigal recused herself due to a potential...     Michael Charles Camou, 55, of Napa, has a parole hearing on Feb. 18 at the California State Prison in Vacaville. Camou murdered Steven Lee Rhorer, 23, of Laytonville on Oct. 13, 1987 by shooting him 10 times with an assault rifle as Rhorer slept in a sleeping bag.

    A small cannon may be the cause of a reported explosion that seriously injured a Laytonville man on Nov. 21, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said Friday. The incident occurred in the area of Odd Fellow's Hall in the 44700 block of Tolen Avenue in Laytonville on Nov. 21, Investigators discovered shards of metal and a small tricycle-sized wheel at the scene of a reported explosion at Odd Fellow's Hall, which houses several apartments, according to the Sheriff's Office.
