According to the Laurel Police Department, a traffic stop on in the 400 block of South 13th Avenue led to the arrest of James Maurice Dean, 30. Officers said Dean was stopped in connection with a domestic assault warrant and an assault that happened in Jones County.

    Two men have been charged for the burglary that took place on the 200 block of Reid Road in Jones County on June 6. According to the Jones County Sheriff's Department, Christopher Zachery "Zack" Hetrick, 23 of Stateline, and Christopher Scott Proctor, 35 of Laurel, are suspects in the burglaries. During an investigation, it was discovered that both men had attempted to sell the stolen property, which according to investigators amounted to more than $1,300 of electronics and other items.
