District Attorney Jennings Jones reviewed the findings of a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation probe and determined no wrongdoing by Detective Ty Downing , 48, in the April 12 shooting of Jeffery Underhill , according to Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh .

"At the request of District Attorney General Jennings Jones , TBI special agents are investigating the circumstances surrounding an officer involved shooting that occurred at 427 Double Springs Road this afternoon around 3 o'clock involving a deputy with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office," said Niland at a media briefing.

    A Lascassas man told police Feb. 22 that he was beaten unconscious with a skateboard in the upper level of the West Vine Street parking garage, according to a police report. At St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital the victim told police an older teenager, described as a white male with dark hair, and several others surrounded him and beat him with what he believes was a skateboard, resulting in a loss of consciousness, two black eyes, a shoulder injury and abrasions to the face.

    A Circuit Court jury convicted Dewey "Butch" Abbott of second-degree murder Friday in the July 22, 2015 shooting death of Jesse Sliepenbeek , a verdict that could force the defendant to spend at least 15 years in prison. Abbott, 60, claims he shot 40-year-old Sliepenbeek in self-defense when he came toward him in anger at his East Northfield Boulevard apartment complex nearly a year and a half ago.
