    A same-sex couple from LaPlace became the first to receive a marriage license from the St. John the Baptist Parish Clerk of Court's office, the L'Observateur newspaper reports. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled June 26 that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states, including Louisiana, which had explicitly banned the practice in 2004.

Authorities say 46-year-old Herbert Johnson Jr., of Reserve , was arrested around 10 a.m. Monday and booked with being a principal to aggravated burglary, principal to aggravated kidnapping, and principal to armed robbery.

St. John the Baptist Parish authorities announced Wednesday the arrest of Davana Tripps, 42, as part of a continuing joint investigation with the State Police and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office into the treatment of the little girl, whose mother had reported her kidnapped after a custody dispute.
