The suspect, Josiah Lamarr Jones, is also being held for investigation of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury in connection to his daughter Naomi Jones, who died in March but also had many prior injuries, according to Steve Davis, spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department.

Police dispatch received multiple calls of shots fired near West Ninth Avenue and Allison Street at about 7 p.m. "The driver of that vehicle, 44-year-old Phillip Todd Peny, had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on scene," police said in a news release.
