Gualt served with the Merchant Marines and the US Navy however, his Merchant Marine service was never officially recognized until now. Franks wife, Gean Clair Gault, will receive all of her husbands awards in a ceremony at Dale's Seafood in Lake Waccamaw Saturday.

    Lake Waccamaw's Town Council voted 3-1 to withdraw its application for gator hunting. The town was the first in our area to apply for a population reduction hunt request after the NC Wildlife Resources Commission announced an extension to the application period deadline in April.
