    A swimmer who was in distress in the ocean Sunday evening near North Cove is presumed drowned, according to the Pacific County Sheriff's Office. Connorey K. Lee, 20, of Lake Stevens, was staying at a vacation cabin for the weekend and went out for a swim with friends in the ocean near Willows Lane, according to Chief Criminal Deputy Pat Matlock.

    A 71-year-old Lake Stevens man was sentenced to almost 13 years in prison after shooting his roommate because he wanted to teach her a lesson. The Everett Herald reports that Thomas Clark had previously admitted to shooting his roommate in the stomach with a two-shot derringer pistol after arguing May 28 over mowing the lawn.
