    The National Weather Service is maintaining a Winter Storm Warning for heavy lake effect snow through 7 AM on Wednesday, with between seven and 10 more inches of snow to fall throughout Tuesday, and localized amounts of up to 16 inches possible. Winds gusting as much as 35 miles per hour will cause near zero visibility at times and create snow drifts that may be tough for road crews to clear off.

    It could still warm up over the next couple of weeks, but the hopes of those who want a White Christmas along the Lakeshore should be confirmed over the next 36 to 48 hours. The National Weather Service office at Ford Airport in Grand Rapids overnight issued a Winter Storm Warning for Allegan and Ottawa counties, as well as those counties along the Lake Michigan shoreline, to begin at 10 PM this evening and run through 7 AM on Wednesday.

    An autopsy was performed on 23-year-old Nathan Jon Marcus of Holland who died while on his ski doo Lake Michigan near Tunnel Park on Sunday. Captain Mark Bennett with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says then autopsy was performed at Holland Hospital on Monday and showed no signs of trauma or injury.

    The county's Department of Public Health issued a No Body Contact Advisory for the Grand River from a mile east of the US-31 bridge in Grand Haven to where the river flows into Lake Michigan. This is due to the release of sanitary sewage from the Grand Haven/Spring Lake Sewer Authority's water treatment plant, the amount of which was not immediately disclosed.

    The Mchigan Department of Natural Resources says live red swamp crayfish, also called Louisiana crayfish, were caught in Sunset Lake in Vicksburg in southwest Michigan and a retention pond in Novi. The DNR caught 111 of them in Novi on Monday, July 17. The agency is working to determine how the species got introduced into the two waterways.

According to Ottawa County Sheriff's Sergeant Jay Douglas, a 16-year-old Grand Haven boy and a 15-year-old Spring Lake boy were on separate jet skis in Spring Lake, near the Spring Lake Country Club, around 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
