She recently retired as the director of botany for the Morris Arboretum and taught botany at the University of Pennsylvania.

    A last-lap pass gave defending track champion Kevin Harnett of Barto his first win of the season in the 30-lap Modified feature at Penn Can Speedway on May 22. Hartnett, who started ninth, got around Alan Rudalavage from Newton Lake coming out of turn 4. Rudalavage, who started fifth and led 19 laps, took second. Dickson City's Nick Rochinski finished third, Bob Trapper of Scranton was fourth, Brian Malcolm from Lake Ariel was sixth, Kingsley's Dan Pompey was seventh, Adam MacGeorge of Great Bend was ninth and Nick Petrilak from Greenfield Twp.
