    The new Sleeping Bear Ale Trail may not have a fancy website or T-shirt line to promote it , but the six Northern Michigan breweries that have banded together as a way to boost their business have already created a buzz among beer lovers searching for their next tasty find. The ale trail - which spans some of Michigan's prettiest area from Frankfort to Northport - includes these six growing breweries: Big Cat Brewing in Cedar; Lake Ann Brewing in Lake Ann; Green Bird Organic Cellars in Northport; Stormcloud Brewing in Frankfort; Hop Lot Brewing in Suttons Bay; and St. Ambrose Cellars in Beulah.

Markey, 25, of Blue Earth received a stay of adjudication on a charge of fleeing a peace officer by means other than a motor vehicle; fined $185, sentenced to jail two days, credit for time served two days, one year unsupervised probation, no misdemeanor or greater violations of the law.

    Was a mild-mannered grocery store clerk from Northern Michigan last seen in 1969 the same man who hijacked a Seattle-bound airliner in 1971 and parachuted into American legend? Ross Richardson, a shipwreck diver and author from Lake Ann, has experienced a minor flurry of media attention to his theory on the mysterious origins of the infamous hijacker D.B. Cooper, who jumped from the ramp of a Boeing 727 with $200,000 in extorted cash on Nov. 24, 1971 and was never caught or heard from again. Richardson's theory? That Cooper might have actually been a married father of four named Robert Richard Lepsy of Grayling, whose car was found parked at the airport in Traverse City three days after leaving work on Oct. 29, 1969.
