    A Ladson man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly broke into the yard of a tree trimming business Wednesday and stole more than $43,000 in equipment. Justin Heath Chesser, 39, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of grand larceny, and for breaking an entering a locked yard after 6 p.m., said Chief Deputy Mike Cochran, a spokesman for the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

    A Ladson man accused of murdering three people Saturday in Moncks Corner admitted to being “the suspect,” fired two rounds at a witness who was at the residence, and threatened to shoot a deputy in the head, according to an affidavit released Thursday by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Robert David Nolen, 46, of Exploration Road in Ladson has been charged with the shooting death of James Harrison, 62, of Summerville; Lance Donovan Kenyon, 47, of Moncks Corner; and Harry Lee Gressette, 52, of Goose Creek.

    The owner of a 2002 blue Volkswagen Jetta reported someone had cracked the windshield of his vehicle and used a nail to flatten a tire while it was parked near the road in the front yard of a home in the Clemson Terrace subdivision, according to a report. A Ladson man told deputies his live-in girlfriend threatened him with a butcher knife during a verbal altercation.

    The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in identifying a trio that made off with a motorcycle in July. According to a Wednesday press release from the sheriff's office, surveillance video shows what appears to be three white males in two vehicles pull up to a home on Exploration Road in Ladson, load a gray and black 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R Caféstyle motorcycle onto the bed of an early 2000s Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and drive off.

Surveillance video and a cellphone photo of the suspect appeared to match a suspect in a similar incident that occurred Aug. 3 in the same store, the officer wrote in his report.

    An officer with a police department in North Carolina contacted local deputies about a juvenile at a hospital in his jurisdiction who told him she did not wish to return to her Ladson-area home because her mother and stepfather abuse her and the man also uses heroin, according to a report. Law enforcement planned to contact DSS about the issue and told the mother, who denied allegations of drug use and abuse in the home, to seek a police escort to bring her child home and to have everyone in the home interviewed for a case report.

The two men drove a white Ford F-150, made sometime between 1997 and 2003, to Velocity Power Sports on Gateway Drive and stole a blue and white 2016 Yamaha Raptor 700 ATV valued at $7,000, according to a news release from the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.
