    A Wednesday night head-on collision on I-10 in Jeff Davis Parish left three dead and two injured, state police said. Sgt. James Anderson with Louisiana State Police Troop D said the head-on collision occurred around 5 p.m. between Welsh and Lacassine A 2008 Mazda 3 was headed east on I-10 when for unknown reasons crossed the median and struck a 2017 Ram heavy duty truck pulling a trailer that was headed westbound head-on.

Any higher releases from Toledo Bend Reservoir are not likely as the current lake level is dropping with the gates open at 6 feet, even better news for those living along the Sabine River.

    Two arrests have been made today in Lacassine after two people were spotted behind stripping and stealing copper behind a metal building on North Frontage Road, authorities said. Milford Ray Eastwood, 48, and wife, Shani Rachel Eastwood, 53, both of Kinder, Louisiana, were stripping and stealing copper wire to sell, said Chief Deputy Chris Ivey, Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office spokesman.
