    A Labadieville man was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court in New Orleans to drug conspiracy and weapons charges dating to 2013, U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced Tuesday in a news release. Tommy Wayne Thompson, 32, was sentenced to 85 months in prison and four years of supervised release after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride, distribution of 28 grams or more of crack cocaine, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

    A 15-year-old wanted on a count of first-degree rape of a child turned himself in Tuesday to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, accompanied by a parent, Sheriff Leland Falcon said.     An Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office SWAT team thought it had executed the perfect "no-knock" search warrant in 2013 when it forcibly entered a suspected drug house in Labadieville in the early morning hours, pulled the homeowners and some of their children from their beds and handcuffed them. Following a bench trial of the family's lawsuit against the Sheriff's Office and Louisiana State Police earlier this year, State District Judge Katherine Tess Stromberg, found the Sheriff's Office and State Police both 50 percent at fault and awarded the family more than $90,000.
