    An Arkansas-based solicitor who wrongly represented two local law enforcement organizations is being fined $57,500 by the secretary of state for not following Tennessee guidelines for non-profit fundraising. After a year-long investigation initiated by an anonymous tip, the Secretary of State's office found Gaylon Boshears of Little Rock, Ark., illegally operated the organization "Southern Sports & Events Marketing" statewide, according to a state release.

    A Smyrna man was killed and two other people were injured Tuesday night in a head-on collision on Nissan Drive, Smyrna Police reported. Joshua Soper, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene near Sam Davis Road after his southbound 2006 Saturn Ion crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic and crashed into a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder traveling north on Nissan Drive, according to a preliminary police report.
