Alaska will celebrate its 50th anniversary of Arbor Day on May 16, thanks to a class of fourth-grade students from Kodiak. In 1966, Alaska was the only state in the Union without an official Arbor Day. Comment?
Effective March 1, Alaska State Parks will implement a $5 per vehicle day-use fee at Fort Abercrombie State Historical Park and Buskin River State Recreation Site. Starting May 1, the day-use fee will be instituted at Pasagshak River State Recreation Site along with an overnight camping fee of $15 per night for up to eight people per site. Comment?
Signs bearing poems written by Alaskans will be installed and dedicated this month at Fort Abercrombie State Historical Park, the Seward waterfront, and Caines Head State Recreational Area as part of the Poems in Place Project. The public is invited to the dedications and free writing workshops held in conjunction with the dedications. Comment?
