    Another strong coho run is predicted to enter the Columbia River in 2015, although far smaller than the monster return of 2014. State, federal and tribal biologists have released the Oregon Production Index forecast, which predicts 1,015,000 coho will be swimming in ocean south of Leadbetter Point at the northern tip of Long Beach Peninsula.

    Spring chinook salmon returns to the Wind and Klickitat rivers, plus Drano Lake, in the Columbia Gorge in 2015 are forecast to be almost identical to last year. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is predicting returns of 4,800 spring salmon to the Wind River, 7,800 to Drano Lake and 2,700 to the Klickitat.

    Salmon anglers in the Columbia River had an exceptional season in 2014 and the outlook for 2015 - at least for fall chinook and coho - is encouraging, too. The Washington and Oregon departments of Fish and Wildlife have issued their very preliminary outlook for the fall stocks in 2015.
