    Two military policemen and two Marine Corps corporals stationed at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay face possible misdemeanor battery charges for an alleged altercation outside a bar in Fernandina Beach, Fla. Mark Fox, deputy chief for the Fernandina Beach Police Department, said the state attorney's office is reviewing the allegations and is expected to make a decision by the end of the week.

    U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter, R-1, said late Wednesday, an amendment was added to National Defense Authorization Act for $6 million to allow for the move. City officials have worked with the Federal Aviation Administration for more than a decade to close the airport because the Navy considers it a safety and security hazard to nearby Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

    A Kings Bay sailor on trial for allegedly molesting two sisters has been hospitalized after he was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 95. Navy officials said Shaun Bland, a petty officer 2nd class, was being driven to his trial at the Camden County Courthouse in Woodbine when he jumped out of the car he was riding in and was struck by another vehicle.
