    The former owner and director of the now-defunct Midwest Academy boarding school was charged Friday in South Lee County District Court with third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of sexual exploitation by a counselor. Benjamin Trane, 39, who lives now in Idaho Falls, Idaho, surrendered late Thursday to authorities at the Lee County Jail in Montrose, where is being held in lieu of a $500,000 cash-only bond.

Michael Wayne Land, 29, who told police he lives at 1503 Concert St., in Keokuk, was arrested about 3:40 a.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Concert Street on outstanding warrants, said Jay Whitaker, a spokesman for the Keokuk Police Department.
