    Area high schools girls are invited to select a free prom dress during Altrusa International of Akron's 18th annual Princess Night Project, set for March 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, located at 800 E. Market St. This event is open to anyone, with no qualifications needed. According to Altrusa officials, over 1,000 gowns will be available to choose from, along with dress shoes and accessories such as purses, wraps and jewelry.

This year he is staging the ninth annual Ryan Humbert Holiday Extravaganza: A Very Country Christmas Dec. 20-21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St. Like in years past, the show is presented cabaret-style, which allows for the audience to be onstage with the band.

    The 11th annual Walk for Babies will be held Oct. 1 starting at 9 a.m. at Canal Park, 300 S. Main St. The event features a noncompetitive walk, raffle and a children's fun zone with activities, games, entertainment and snacks to entertain children and families until 1 p.m. Sam and Shelby Snellenberger, of Kent, created the event after their daughter, Amelia, spent the first 26 days of her life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the hospital. The Snellenbergers were so grateful for the care Amelia received that they set a goal to raise $1 million for the NICU.
